So you're about to sign up (or already have) for the August 16/17 weekend at my cottage - well, welcome aboard.

If you plan to use the Ambassador Bridge to travel to my cottage here's what to expect: From EB I-96 all traffic except bridge or Mexican Town traffic is forced to exit at I-94 or Warren. To get to the bridge stay on I-96! (keep to the left.) You will be directed onto a single lane route which leads to the bridge. About 1/3 mile along this route a branch to the left goes directly to the bridge but bypasses the duty free plaza. If you plan to stop for duty free purchases or gas, take the right branch. Stay on this route until you reach West Grand Blvd. where you can access the bridge.

From EB I-94, I believe you can still exit onto WB I-96 and follow the directions above.

Returning home, you will probably want to follow the posted detours or use the tunnel. I can provide more details at the cottage.

The travel time from Northville (barring a tie-up at the bridge) is about one and a half hours. Don't forget that the posted speeds in Ontario are in KPH, not MPH, so 80 KPH is about 50 MPH. To convert, multiply the speed in KPH by .6 to get the MPH speed.

You do not want to buy gas in Canada! You can save 10 to 15 cents per gallon on the Northville area gas price by buying gas at the Duty Free plaza at the bridge. On Thursday (8/14) the duty free price was $3.669/ gal..

My cottage is right on a nice sandy beach so bring your canoes/kayaks as well as your bathing suits. You should also bring your own towel, sunscreen, etc.. and a folding chair. A nearby ramp is available for anyone who wishes to bring a boat or sea-doo.

As usual, everyone is expected to bring a dish to pass and pay $5 at the door or $10 without a food dish. ($15/$20 for two day guests). I will be providing some type of evening meal so you won't starve. Also, I'll try to contact everyone to coordinate things so we don't all bring the same type of dishes.

While overnight guests are welcome, the facilities are somewhat limited and there is a definite lack of privacy, so please contact me ( cottagetrip@mugobeer.com ) regarding overnight stays.
